# Victoria Theatre

It is the older of the two buildings in the Victoria complex: it was built between 1855 and 1862 as the Town Hall and converted into a theatre in 1908. Seating is 380 in the stalls and 234 in the circle, including 78 seats over the orchestra pit; when the pit is in use, capacity is 536. The stage can add an extended forestage or an orchestra pit, and the Stalls area is wheelchair accessible. Victoria Theatre hosted the first public performance of "Majulah Singapura", now the national anthem, in 1958.
