戏剧中心前身是福康宁的文化中心，1955年奠基，1957年启用；1980年更名为戏剧中心，2005年迁入国家图书馆大楼。中心由艺术之家集团管理，还设有一个123个座位的黑盒剧场（[Arts House Group，2026年11月8日访问](https://artshousegroup.sg/dc)）
