The Arts House at the Old Parliament
Venue
The Arts House at the Old Parliament is an arts centre in a National Monument at 1 Old Parliament Lane, in the Civic District, home to festivals, performances, exhibitions and community programmes ([Arts House Group, accessed 8 Nov 2026](https://artshousegroup.sg/tah))
The building was designed by the architect G.D. Coleman and built in 1826–1827 on the bank of the Singapore River. It was Singapore's main courthouse from 1841, then the Supreme Court from 1875 to 1939, a government storehouse after the war, and from 1965 to 1999 the home of the Parliament of Singapore, having reopened as Assembly House in 1954. It was declared a National Monument in 1992 and opened as The Arts House on 26 March 2004 after four years of restoration (Arts House Group, accessed 8 Nov 2026)
Today it hosts events such as the Singapore International Festival of Arts, VERSE and the Golden Point Award, and is managed by Arts House Group. The annexe holds restaurants and a pay-as-you-wish lunch space (Arts House Group, accessed 8 Nov 2026)
