About Victoria Concert Hall

The building was built between 1902 and 1905 as the Victoria Memorial Hall in honour of Queen Victoria. In the Second World War it served as a makeshift hospital, and it hosted the inaugural meeting of the People's Action Party in 1954. It was converted into a concert hall in 1979–80. Today it has 538 seats in the stalls and 135 in the circle, a coffered ceiling fitted for acoustics and a Klais pipe organ with 2,012 pipes at the centre of the stage (Arts House Group, Victoria Concert Hall, accessed 8 Nov 2026)

The hall shares the complex with Victoria Theatre, joined by the 54-metre Victoria Clock Tower, whose clock has run since 1907. The complex was gazetted a National Monument on 14 February 1992, reopened on 15 July 2014 after a four-year restoration, and has been managed by Arts House Group since 2017. Brasserie Astoria is inside the building, and the Singapore International Festival of Arts and the Singapore Writers Festival have used its spaces (Arts House Group, accessed 8 Nov 2026)
