Overview
Sounding Lines is a sound installation by Belgian artist Stijn Demeulenaere, premiering at ArtScience Museum's Oculus on Basement 2 from 6 November 2026 to 24 January 2027 with free admission. It combines recordings from wild oyster beds in the North Sea, offshore wind farm sounds and processed sea shanties sung by a women's choir from Ostend. (ArtScience Museum, accessed 8 Nov 2026)
About the work
The title refers to the weighted lines once lowered to measure the sea's depth. The piece extends its North Sea research to Singapore's seabed, a working landscape shaped by ecology, technology and human history (ArtScience Museum, accessed 8 Nov 2026)
Maps
A series of maps in the Oculus traces how the North Sea and Singapore seabed have changed over time (ArtScience Museum, accessed 8 Nov 2026)
